Windsurfing in Crimea. Why does exactly Olenevka?
On the Crimean Republic coast, there are lots of different spots, where windsurfers always sail and many windsurf schools are located long ago. So why did we decide to locate our School in Olenevka, point Tarhankut? Choosing this place we thought not only about students but also about ourselves, because we are big windsurfing fans and to keep fit, we need aa lot of practice and suitable weather conditions. And good for windsurfing weather conditions became the main factor for choosing Olenevka beach.
Main advantages:
1. Wind frequency.
To sail you need wind. On the Tarkhankut pint it blows more often than ib other Crimean spots for next reasons:
- Tarhankut point goes far to the sea, because of this, Olenevka is more opened for the sea winds, coming from different directions;
- Thermals (thermal flow).
In August, when the weather is hot and the temperature is 33 above zero, powerful thermals blow in Olenevka most part of the month. It appears because of the steppe overheating. Air mass rises and the vortex is being formed. If to speak easier, the north-east 6-20 meters per second wind blows during August.
For us, it is side-offshore. Coming out from our windsurf school, you will see the flat water with enough powerful wind to ride on a high speed, practice your freeride skills and also learn the exciting freestyle elements.
2. Wind Direction.
As it was mentioned earlier, wind in different months comes from different directions. And because Olenevka is located farther in the sea than the Crimea peninsula itself, storms come to Olenevka much more often:)
Windsurfing in big waves is a feature of this place. Some pro-riders come here to sail in waves in winter and autumn.
3. Unique flora and fauna.
Olenevka nature is a treasure of the Crimea Republic. For this reason, Tarhankut is a reserve. There are no big touristic complexes nearby Olenevka, which could pollute the sea. The water transparency impresses, it can be compared with the red sea, that's why diving is also popular there. White sand looks like the Caribean sand(Kuba, Jamaica, Bonaire. There are very few places left in the world untouched with scientific and technical progress and industrialization.
4. Weather conditions for first windsurfing lessons.
We coach and give equipment for rent to advanced windsurfers and help beginners to make first steps in windsurfing. Olenevka beach fits perfectly for this. Long shoal helps in the safety, simplicity, and quality of the training. Sand beach helps to avoid injuries. In Crimea there are no more picturesque and more practical places for studying windsurfung.
